The chair is one of man's friendliest inventions which, unknowingly to us, has a therapeutic effect. We have been using chairs without realizing they support our body to lessen the tension we have while working. It's on the chair that we dump our weight and energies when we are tired, upset, sick, or just enjoying the presence of company.
All these years we buy a chair without considering its function or advantages. There are different types of chairs and more types have come out to cater to the demands of the growing population. The different types of chairs and their advantages all serve our particular needs.
For the home, there is the baby high chair which is a big help for the family. It protects the baby from falls and allows parents to move or do other chores. The baby high chair may be made of wood, plastic, or metal.
Then there's the sofa chair that comes in various styles, ranging from the wood cabin type to the modern metal or plastic type. The sofa may be covered with leather or cloth. Leather sofas are good in homes in cold climates while the cloth-covered sofas work well in warm climates. Sofas allow seating for private company, allowing three or more people to sit, where casual conversation can be comfortably done.
Then there is the traditional single-seating chair which comes in different styles and names. This allows seaters to have ample distance for conversation. These usually have broad armrests that relax the arms. The back of this type of chair strongly supports the torso. Nowadays, this single-seater comes in molded plastic. Molded plastic chairs are lightweight, easy to move and easy to clean.
For the patio or den, there are the more informal types of chairs you can use. You can have the rocking chair and the wicker chair. The rocking chair is good for relaxation or even in rocking a baby to sleep (while you're holding the baby). Wicker chairs give a homey effect and are also lightweight compared to other upholstered chairs. Then there's the folding chair, usually made of wood. It is easy to store and doesn't use much space in storing. A more modern type of informal chair is the bean bag. It moves and conforms to the body as it moves and soothes it, too. All these types of chairs have their own advantages to fit your body or lifestyle needs.
